How to Help

Ask

Ask directly: “Are you thinking about suicide?” Be direct, caring, and non-judgmental.

Keep Them Safe

Reduce access to lethal means. Ask if they have a plan and what steps they’ve taken.

Be There

Listen attentively. Be present. Don’t argue, minimize their feelings, or try to fix it.

Help Them Connect

Connect them with support resources like 988 or help them reach out to a mental health professional.

Follow Up

Check in regularly. Let them know you care and are thinking about them.

Help Is Available

If you or someone you know is struggling, reach out. You are not alone.
